Ellie Marchese is a 21 year old Michigan born illustrator and painter currently attending the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design. In earlier years, she was involved in both sports and music as well as art classes. She attended the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design Pre-College program in 2022, which acted as a springboard to her decision to apply to the university. She is primarily a painter dabbling in oils but proficient in acrylics and gouache and also enjoys exploring other mediums and practices. At Stamps, much of Ellie's work explores self portrait ideation, though not always directly pushing the format of a self portrait. She frequently illustrates the Au Sable River which winds through Oscoda, Michigan. Nature is an incredibly important element to Ellie's work, and she often finds herself noticing the subtleties of shifting leaves and swaying tree branches. Ellie is also interested in the field of ecology and environmental preservation, stemming from her love for the Huron-Manistee National Forest which stretches across a large portion of the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
